Sub-municipal Office, Rotterdam
The new sub-municipal office of the former townships of Hillegersberg and Schiebroek is part of a larger row of houses with a typical Rotterdam character. The row, visibly situated alongside a park, is the crowning touch of the neighbourhood redevelopment. The architecture is inspired by the Rotterdam building style that originated in the period between the two world wars, characterised by lots of brickwork and large façade openings.
The sub-municipality borders a park. The public facilities on both sides of the street-side entrance symbolise the openness of democracy and services targeted by the sub-municipality. The other part of the housing row includes apartments and a primary health centre.
