Radboud library, Nijmegen
The Radbout University is developing constant so that it can offer modern and contemporary education. The renewed Central University Library shows that the way of studying and working is a key point, and that it is important to anticipate on that. The library is more than just a meeting space. A ‘living room’ where you can meet, study, work and also where you are able to find some (cultural) relaxation.
The existing building was not supplying these needs anymore and therefor it was redesigned. In the middle zone as much light, air and overview as possible has been brought. Within the three building layers this is the hart from where all facilities and services can be reached. In the basement, where the book collections are, we made new places to study. The ground floor including the main entrance got new service facilities. The first floor is multi-functional and lots of activities are happening around the new coffee corner.
