Police station Amsterdam
The police station in Amsterdam South was formerly an introverted building, with closed doors and closed workplaces. This no longer suited the manner in which the police are working today. Inbo was commissioned to transform the closed construction into a more friendly environment, both for the public and the users. Openness and safety were key themes in the development of our new interior design.
The whole interior of the building was overhauled, with an eye-catching staircase inserted into a three-storey void. The layout has been completely adapted to match the police’s new working ethos and all of the small offices on the first floor have been removed. As a result, the building feels much lighter, higher and larger. The new Police Station has become a place that enables openness and stimulates cooperation.
