NHTV monastery in progress
With only two months to go until completion, contractor Mertens is working hard to convert the former monastery Maria Mater Dei in Breda into a contemporary educational building for NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. Two large monastery gardens have been covered, indoor spaces are being phased out, installations are being tested and a major breakthrough for creating a new entrance is planned for the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, outside the landscape, the Mgr. Hopmansstraat has temporarily been transformed into a large sandbox and will soon be the heart of the campus, the first parking places are paved and the moved trees are in bloom.
In this way the people of NHTV see their dream come true step by step: a campus of international allure that promotes cross-fertilization and synergy. After the summer, the studies of Hotel, Facility and Tourism will take the monastery into use with great enthusiasm. After that it is the turn of the other two NHTV buildings and the rest of the landscape to be taken care of.
The NHTV campus is designed in total engineering by Inbo, Culd, Deerns, Pieters Bouwtechniek and DGMR. Brink Groep provides the project management.
