Opening ZOC by Queen Máxima

Opening ZOC by Queen Máxima

On Friday the 22nd of May Her Royal Highness Queen Máxima has opened the new Care Education Center (Zorg Onderwijs Centrum / ZOC) of Koninklijke Kentalis in Zoetermeer. The opening of the ZOC is part of the 225th anniversary of Kentalis, a national institution for deaf people, people with (severe) loss of hearing, deafblind people and language impairment.

Kentalis wished to open a location that opens up towards the surroundings and stops the isolation of buildings hiding in plantation. As an answer to this wish Inbo designed the new ZOC as a beacon in the neighbourhood. The entrance of the grounds has been moved towards the main neighbourhood road. The oval building encloses an inner court that connects all surrounding education facilities (special and special secondary education) and supporting functions (diagnostic centre, medical day-care, offices and treatment facilities).
